Fajr winners awarded stay at Paris international arts center

Winners of the 9th Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts are to be hosted at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Winners of the 9th Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts in Iran have been granted a stay at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The honorees were announced at the closing ceremony held at Vahadat Hall on Saturday, attended by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi-Amiri.

The Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris is recognized as a public utility which hosts foreign and French professional artists in residence.

Each year, over 1,000 artists from more than 55 countries are chosen to stay in one of the 325 residence studios.

Honorees who received the Golden Tooba Award of the Fajr festival were artists such as Masoud Mohammadi, Ahmad Sheikhzadeh, Habib Panbehchi, Nasrin Shapuri, Hassan Kakavand, Alireza Zakeri and Ahad Sheikhzadeh.

Foreign artists participating in the Fajr festival this year included Belgian cartoonist Luc Descheemaeker, Brazilian cartoonist Silvano Mello and American photographer and artist Eric Tomberlin. A collection of 102 works was shown in the competition section.

The 9th edition of the Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts ran from January 22 to February 18.
